Give your AI full Yeelight home intelligence

First confirm that Yeelight Home is connected to your home, then install the official Skill in the AI you use. You can then ask in everyday language, preview and run lighting changes, use scenes, design automations, and improve whole-home lighting.

Estimated time
15 minutes
What success looks like
The AI actually discovers `yeelight-smart-home`, reads the current home, produces a zero-write lighting preview, and completes one reversible change with a state check after you confirm.
Before you start
  • Yeelight Home is installed and healthy
  • The Yeelight Pro account is authorized
  • A default Pro home is selected
  • At least one AI with Agent Skill support is installed
Privacy boundary

Sign-in and QR scanning stay on your computer. Never send a token, password, cookie, verification code, or QR result to an AI assistant.

Confirm that the home foundation is ready

Run the two read-only checks below. If both work, you do not need to reinstall Yeelight Home or repeat QR sign-in. If either fails, use the prerequisite Yeelight Home guide above and return when it is complete.

Check the Yeelight Home version
shell
yeelight-home version --json
Execution preview

yeelight-home version --json

Interactive demo only. It does not run a command or connect to a device.

Check sign-in, home selection, and runtime health
    shell
    yeelight-home doctor --json
    Execution preview

    yeelight-home doctor --json

Interactive demo only. It does not run a command or connect to a device.

You are done whenThe version command works and Doctor reports `status: ok`, an authenticated account, and a selected home.

If it did not workIf the command is missing, sign-in is incomplete, no home is selected, or Doctor lists remediation, finish the Yeelight Home guide first. Do not scan again on this page.

Recommended: ask your AI to install the Skill

Give this request to an AI that can use your terminal. It checks the prerequisite, opens the interactive installer, and verifies the result. It does not choose a host for you. When an account is already signed in, the guide lets you keep it or deliberately switch accounts.

      Install full home intelligence
Run `yeelight-home version --json` and `yeelight-home doctor --json` first. Confirm that Yeelight Home is installed, signed in, and has a selected home. If it is not ready, stop and direct me to the Yeelight Home guide; do not repeat installation or QR instructions inside this Skill guide. When it is ready, run `yeelight-home setup --lang en-US --mode skill` and let me choose the target AI, approve the plan, and choose whether to keep the current account or scan again to switch accounts. After installation, tell me to fully quit and reopen the selected AI, then verify that this session actually discovers `yeelight-smart-home`. Never request my account, QR code, verification code, or token, and never substitute a non-official Skill.

The current account is kept by default. QR sign-in starts only when you explicitly choose to switch, and credentials never enter the chat. Sanitized interactive demo. It does not read your home or control a device.

You are done whenThe AI leaves the host choice to you and reports the real installer and discovery results.

If it did not workIf the AI cannot use the terminal, run the same command in the next step yourself.

Choose your AI in the terminal and install

Do not add `--agent auto --yes`. After you approve the Yeelight setup plan and choose the signed-in account, setup opens Vercel's official `skills` installer directly. Vercel scans local AI hosts, preselects detected targets, and owns search, Space multi-select, installation method, and final confirmation; Yeelight Home no longer maintains a duplicate Agent picker. It selects only `yeelight-smart-home` and finds the first available source among GitHub and the official Gitee and GitCode mirrors before opening the interactive installer.

      Open the Skill installer
      shell
yeelight-home setup --lang en-US --mode skill
      Execution preview

Real install: choose host, install Skill, verify Real output · sanitized
        Read the transcript

The real installer reads the official repository, finds two Skills, selects only yeelight-smart-home, installs it for the chosen AI, and succeeds. Home details, paths, and credentials are redacted.

You are done whenThe installer reports `Selected 1 skill: yeelight-smart-home`, an install location, and `Installation complete`. Running it again safely updates the Skill.

If it did not workIf no AI is detected, Vercel's installer shows its supported hosts for manual selection. For a newly supported host not yet listed, explicitly try `--agent <id>`. A host that supports project-level Skills only cannot use this guide's global install.

Fully restart the AI and confirm real discovery

Most AI hosts scan Skills only at startup. Refreshing a web page or opening a new chat may not be enough. Fully quit the app or CLI process, then reopen it.

        Check the actual loaded Skill
Inspect the Skills actually loaded in this session, confirm whether `yeelight-smart-home` is present, and tell me its install location. Do not infer that it is loaded only because a folder exists.

This checks Skill metadata only; it does not read or control the home. Sanitized interactive demo. It does not read your home or control a device.

You are done whenThe AI returns the exact Skill ID instead of only saying that files were installed.

If it did not workIf it is still missing, verify that the install location belongs to this AI and fully restart once more. Do not repeatedly reinstall Yeelight Home.

Experience 1: let AI understand the whole home

Start read-only. The Runtime reads homes, rooms, devices, groups, scenes, and automations, then the Skill explains them in plain language.

        Create a home overview
Use yeelight-smart-home to look at my current home. Summarize the rooms, main lights, device groups, scenes, and automations in plain language. Read only and do not control or change anything.

Read-only with no cloud write. Sanitized interactive demo. It does not read your home or control a device.

You are done whenYou see your real rooms, groups, scenes, and automations rather than a generic example.

If it did not workIf names are duplicated, ask for the candidates instead of letting the AI guess.

Experience 2: ask how one light is doing

Name a room and location. The AI resolves one device before reading online state, power, brightness, color temperature, or properties the device actually supports.

        Read live state
Use yeelight-smart-home to check the light near the living-room TV wall. Tell me whether it is online, whether it is on, and its brightness and color temperature. Confirm the exact light first; if several match, list them for me to choose.

The query does not change the device. Sanitized interactive demo. It does not read your home or control a device.

You are done whenThe AI returns live state and asks before choosing among ambiguous targets.

If it did not workIf the device is offline, use diagnosis rather than treating an old state as current.

Experience 3: preview first, then see a real response

This shows the complete flow: review the room or group, brightness, and scope with zero writes; after you agree, perform one reversible control and read the state back.

Preview and confirm one reversible change
Use yeelight-smart-home to preview setting the living-room grille-light group to 40% brightness. Tell me which lights are affected and explicitly say that nothing has run yet. Wait for me to reply 'confirm' before controlling anything, then read the state back and report the real result.
        You

Brightness is reversible; nothing executes without your confirmation. Sanitized interactive demo. It does not read your home or control a device.

Deleting, unbinding, or transferring a home is outside this quick experience.

You are done whenThe preview leaves the lights unchanged; after confirmation the group responds and the AI reports verified state.

If it did not workIf the AI only returns the preview, reply clearly with 'confirm'. If the target is wrong, correct it instead of confirming.

Experience 4: use a real home scene in one sentence

The Skill looks at existing scenes first. It does not turn an everyday word such as movie or good night into a guessed internal identifier.

Find and run an existing scene
Use yeelight-smart-home to find scenes related to watching a movie in my home. Explain in one sentence what each affects, let me choose one, and only then run it and report the result.

Confirm the exact scene and scope before execution. Sanitized interactive demo. It does not read your home or control a device.

You are done whenThe AI uses a scene that really exists in your home and accurately reports the result.

If it did not workIf no scene matches, ask for a proposal, but do not let the AI pretend the scene already exists.

Experience 5: turn lighting expertise into a reviewable plan

The full Skill does more than switch lights. It combines rooms, fixtures, sensors, scenes, and existing automations, then shows a readable plan before any configuration change.

        Design an evening automation
Use yeelight-smart-home to inspect the current lights, curtains, sensors, scenes, and automations in the main bedroom. Design an evening relaxation plan with triggers, each action, failure protection, and the reason for the design. Show a preview only; do not create or change configuration.

Preview by default; confirm again before creating an automation or applying a design. Sanitized interactive demo. It does not read your home or control a device.

You are done whenThe plan cites real devices and configuration and distinguishes current state, recommendation, and unexecuted work.

If it did not workIf a sensor or capability is missing, the AI must explain the limitation and simplify the plan rather than inventing hardware.

        Try these everyday scenarios first

Start with three to five easy examples. Every sentence is ready to send to your AI.

What you will seeA design preview clearly separated from executable resources.

        Troubleshooting

Must Yeelight Home be ready first?

Yes. Run `yeelight-home version --json` and `yeelight-home doctor --json`. If it is missing, signed out, or has no selected home, finish the prerequisite Yeelight Home guide; this page does not duplicate those steps.

Why does this guide not require another QR scan?

QR authorization and home selection were completed in the Yeelight Home guide. When interactive setup finds a signed-in account, it keeps that account by default. To change accounts, use the arrow keys to choose “Scan again and switch accounts”; after success, setup asks you to select a home from the new account.

Why does the recommended command omit `--agent auto --yes`?

Without those flags, setup opens Vercel's official `skills` installer directly. It scans local AI hosts, preselects detected targets, and lets you search, change, and confirm the selection. `--agent auto --yes` is only for advanced unattended installation.

What if GitHub is unavailable from my network?

setup tries the canonical GitHub source first, then the official read-only Gitee and GitCode mirrors. The normal flow does not require copying repository URLs.

Why does the installer say Found 2 skills?

The official repository contains multiple Skills, but setup explicitly selects `yeelight-smart-home`. Successful output says `Selected 1 skill: yeelight-smart-home`.

Does PromptScript's global-install error mean setup is broken?

No. PromptScript supports project-level Skills only. Install it within the target project or choose an AI with global Skill support. setup reports this boundary instead of claiming false success.

Should ClawHub be the primary install source?

No. GitHub source and Releases are canonical, with Gitee and GitCode as official mirrors. ClawHub is an optional direct install for OpenClaw users, and its current license metadata does not match the official Apache-2.0 source.

Why can the AI not see the Skill after installation?

Most hosts scan at startup. Fully quit and reopen the selected AI, then inspect what the current session actually loaded. A folder alone does not prove discovery.

Do I need to start a local server?

No. The Skill calls the local `yeelight-home` runtime directly. Ordinary users do not start Python, MCP services, or ports for this path.

Do I choose cn, sg, us, or eu on this page?

No. Region is saved during Yeelight Home setup. This page installs only the Skill; correct the account or region in the Yeelight Home guide if needed.

Why do some actions require a family administrator?

Reads and ordinary reversible controls usually do not require management access. Creation, deletion, membership, home, and some configuration actions follow Yeelight Pro account roles. The Skill does not bypass them.

What if the AI cannot tell which light I mean?

Add the room, location, or device name and ask for candidates. Do not confirm a control while the target is ambiguous.

Can a preview actually switch a light?

No. A correct preview reports `dryRun=true`, `persistentWrites=false`, and `dry_run_no_cloud_write`. A real control is sent only after you confirm.

What if the light does not change after I confirm?

Ask the AI to read the operation result and current state, separating offline state, unsupported capability, partial execution, and write-verification mismatch. A sent command is not proof of a successful device change.

Can I run setup again to update the Skill or switch accounts?

Yes. A repeated run updates the same Skill. When setup finds a signed-in account, use the arrow keys to keep it or scan again and switch. A successful switch selects a new home; a failed scan keeps the previous account and home.

Does the Skill save all my conversations?

No. Yeelight Home does not store full conversations. Only explicit structured preferences or feedback you ask it to remember enter local memory, which can be paused, viewed, exported, or deleted.
